Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said that Iran has crossed all ‘red lines’ with its nuclear weapons programme, as the UN General Assembly (UNGA) convened for the final day of its high-level 76th session in New York City on Monday.
Bennett accused Iran of backing forces that ‘want to destroy’ Israel, stating that they seek to ‘dominate the region’ using nuclear weapons.
"Iran’s nuclear weapon programme is at a critical point. All red lines have been crossed," said the prime minister at his first-ever UNGA speech.
Speaking on Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi, Bennett mentioned a 1988 ‘death commission’ that sentenced 5,000 political activists to death by hanging, consisting of four members, one of whom was Raisi.
Bennett also spoke about the annual Durban conference, deeming it a ‘conference of racism against Israel and the Jewish people’. He went on to criticise those countries who were still in conference, calling them ‘lazy’ for ‘adopting cliches’ about Israel.
