Federal Border authorities at the border town of Frankfurt (Oder) announced on Thursday they were expecting an increase in refugee arrivals coming from Belarus through Poland.
According to local reports, some 400 refugees were registered at the German-Polish border in the first half of September, which is the same number recorded during the whole of August. Most of the arrivals came from Iraq and Belarus.
Tents and toilets have been set up on the grounds of the police department at the border, with talks of possibly setting up containers as temporary accommodation as temperatures drop in the coming weeks.
